No Federal Subsidies for Indian Fuel Retailers

A senior petroleum ministry official confirmed this stance on Monday despite rising costs for global energy imports.

Retailers continue to sell transport fuels below market rates, creating significant revenue pressure for these major companies.

While retail prices remain frozen, firms recently hiked costs for several industrial and bulk fuel consumers.

These price adjustments specifically target liquefied petroleum gas intended for industrial use across the country.

Retailers also increased the cost of jet fuel sold exclusively to foreign aviation carriers operating in India.

However, the government maintains a price freeze on gasoline, gasoil, and domestic cooking gas for the public.

Indian aviation companies also benefit from steady rates as the ministry prioritizes consumer price stability right now.

Officials expect state retailers to manage these current market imbalances without direct federal injections of taxpayer capital.
