Meta Details Layoffs and Shift Toward AI Workflows

The Facebook parent company will downsize its workforce by 10% on Wednesday, with further workforce reductions planned later.

Chief People Officer Janelle Gale announced plans to move 7,000 employees into new, specialized AI initiatives.

Executives designed the new corporate structures using AI-native principles to establish flatter, faster, and more autonomous teams.

The restructuring will ultimately impact 20% of Meta’s workforce through a combination of job cuts and internal transfers.

The technology giant also closed 6,000 open roles to support this extensive corporate overhaul.

Transferred employees will develop autonomous AI agents designed to handle tasks currently performed by human workers.

However, the aggressive pivot triggered an internal employee revolt over mouse-tracking software used to train AI models.

Staffers actively criticize executives on internal platforms for maintaining silence regarding the impending mass layoffs.
