iPhone 17 Launch in Beijing: Long Queues and Strong Sales Signals

Apple’s iPhone 17 series received a great deal of attention at its flagship store in Beijing. On launch day, approximately 300 people lined up early in the morning to pick up their pre-ordered devices.

The most popular model was the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with prices starting at 9,999 yuan ($1,406).

Users specifically mention that they prefer this model because of its longer battery life and refreshed design.

Apple announced that the iPhone 17 offers a brighter and scratch-resistant screen, as well as an improved front camera that enhances horizontal selfies. Analysts predict that these innovations will boost sales of the series and bring Apple year-end market share growth in China.

According to Counterpoint Research data, Apple’s shipments in China declined by 6% in the first eight weeks of the third quarter. However, experts expect an 11% increase in the second half of the year with the iPhone 17 series.

This could allow Apple to grow its global sales by 5% in 2025.

Another notable model in the series, the iPhone Air, will offer eSIM support for the first time in China. However, pre-sales have not started yet as regulatory approval is awaited. Analysts say the Air could be a test platform for a foldable iPhone.
