The UK Beatbox Championships, the UK’s largest beatbox event, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a Vocal Arts Festival held at Bristol’s historic Trinity Centre. The two-day festival welcomed artists and fans from around the world.
The event featured competitions in the Solo, Team, Loop, and Under 18 categories. This year also showcased the new format “Chess Clock,” which tested performers’ creativity.
The audience, including those from Japan, enthusiastically joined in with every rhythm, scratch, and bass line.Dan Low, a legendary figure in the beatbox world, was on stage as a judge. The duo Kapow also reached the finals with their energetic performance, but missed out on the top spot. One of the most notable moments of the festival was the speech by the American legend Rahzel (“Godfather of Noise”).
The event was not only a competition but also offered a music career platform for young people. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the industry through master classes, panels, and backstage experiences. Thanks to the TII-supported development program, young people also gained experience in areas such as stage assisting and video production. The festival once again demonstrated that beatboxing is not only a stage performance but also a powerful tool for self-confidence, creativity, and career development.
