Swedish furniture giant IKEA announced it has acquired US-based logistics technology company Locus. The company stated that this move will speed up delivery processes and customer Tesla is preparing to introduce a more affordable Model Y version in order to revive its declining sales and maintain its market share in the face of global competition.
The company’s CEO, Elon Musk, has been talking about his goal of an affordable electric vehicle that will reach the masses for years. However, last year he canceled plans for a new $25,000 model.
The vehicle, expected to be unveiled this week, will be a “more accessible” model built on the existing production and design infrastructure.Great anticipation for the new Model Y
Two short videos shared on the X (formerly Twitter) platform over the weekend generated great excitement among Tesla fans.
The clips showed headlight details visible in the dark, followed by a spinning wheel and the date “10/7” (October 7).Although no official launch event has been announced, analysts and investors are expecting a significant announcement from Tesla. The most anticipated topics include price, range, and cost reduction strategies.
Musk previously stated that the vehicle would cost under $30,000, including US tax credits.
However, the expiration of the $7,500 tax incentive last month effectively increased sales prices and affected demand.Musk said, “There are many people who want to buy the car, but most of them don’t have enough money in their bank accounts. The more affordable we make the car, the more sales will increase.”
New strategy: Affordable price + AI vision
Tesla plans to begin deliveries in the last quarter of the year. The company’s revamped Model Y was launched earlier this year and included some improvements, such as a rear touchscreen.
However, Tesla is under pressure due to slowing sales and increasing competition, particularly in China and Europe. Musk’s political statements have also somewhat damaged brand loyalty.
Musk continues his plan to transform the company into an AI-focused technology giant.
While the Robotaxi and humanoid robot projects continue, Tesla also plans to add more affordable models to its portfolio.Affordable vehicles will play a key role in Tesla’s goal of producing 20 million vehicles in the next decade.
