Breaking news: Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the unemployment rate for February!

Breaking news… The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released labor force statistics for February. According to the data, the number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 95,000 in February 2025 compared to the previous month, falling to 2,886,000. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 8.2 percent. The underemployment rate, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and unemployed, increased by 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month, rising to 28.4 percent. The total rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment was 18.4 percent, while the integrated rate of unemployed and potential labor force was calculated as 19.5 percent.

According to the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and over decreased by 95,000 in February, falling to 2,886,000. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 8.2 percent. The unemployment rate was calculated as 6.7 percent for men and 11.0 percent for women. According to seasonally adjusted data, the number of employed people decreased by 149,000 to 32,314,000. The employment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 48.8 percent. This rate was determined to be 66.0 percent for men and 31.9 percent for women. The labor force decreased by 244,000 people in February 2025 compared to the previous month, falling to 35,200,000. The labor force participation rate decreased by 0.4 percentage points to 53.2 percent. This rate was determined to be 70.8 percent for men and 35.9 percent for women. The unemployment rate among young people aged 15-24 increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month, rising to 15.0 percent. The unemployment rate in this age group was calculated as 10.8 percent for men and 22.7 percent for women. The average actual working hours per week of those employed who were on duty during the reference period, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, remained unchanged at 43.4 hours in February 2025 compared to the previous month. The underemployment rate, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential workforce, and unemployed, increased by 0.2 percentage points to 28.4 percent in February 2025 compared to the previous month. The time-dependent underemployment and unemployed combined rate was estimated at 18.4 percent, while the combined rate of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated at 19.5 percent.
