Paul McCartney on the Rebirth of Wings

Legendary musician Paul McCartney is reviving interest in his second band, Wings, with his new book, “Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run”. The 83-year-old artist said, “There’s a generational change happening, Wings is shining again,” indicating the band’s rediscovery.

In the book, co-authored with historian Edward “Ted” Widmer, McCartney tells the story of Wings, which he formed in 1970 after The Beatles broke up. “We had no plans. Even the hotels weren’t booked; we just said we’d play at universities. But this crazy idea worked,” he says.

Founded in 1971 with his wife Linda McCartney and guitarist Denny Laine, Wings reached the UK Top 10 12 times and produced classics such as “Mull of Kintyre”, “Jet”, “Silly Love Songs”, and the James Bond theme “Live and Let Die”.

McCartney says, “Band On The Run is still a favorite for many people.

“This interest in the album surprises me,” he said, emphasizing that the band’s legacy remains strong even today.

The artist stated, “I don’t dwell on the past too much, but what we achieved during the Wings era is special.. I still feel the excitement of those days.”
