OpenAI is preparing to offer parental controls for ChatGPT following a lawsuit opened after a teenager’s suicide in California. The new features will be available on both the web and mobile applications.
The company announced that with this system, parents can provide stronger security measures by linking their teenagers’ accounts to their own.
Parents will be able to limit their children’s exposure to sensitive content, determine whether ChatGPT remembers their chat history, and decide whether conversations will be used in AI training.Additional features such as quiet hours, turn off sound mode, and block visual production are also coming. However, parents will not have access to their children’s chat logs. Limited notifications will only be provided in cases where a serious security risk is identified.
According to experts, this step reflects the increased oversight of AI’s effects on children. Meta also announced additional safety measures for young people in AI products last month.
