Joint Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory from Nvidia and Abu Dhabi Institute

Nvidia and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi have established a joint artificial intelligence and robotics research laboratory in the United Arab Emirates. This center is the first Nvidia AI Technology Center in the Middle East.

The new center will develop next-generation artificial intelligence models and robotic platforms. TII CEO Najwa Aaraj stated that they are particularly focused on humanoid robots, quadrupedal systems, and robotic arms, emphasizing that they can develop advanced robotic systems thanks to Nvidia’s Thor chip. TII operates under Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council and is a key part of the country’s goal to become a global leader in artificial intelligence. The UAE has been strengthening its artificial intelligence infrastructure with billions of dollars in investments in recent years.

As part of its technology cooperation with the US, the UAE had previously signed an agreement to build one of the world’s largest data center projects, but security concerns arose due to close relations with China.

Discussions for the joint laboratory began about a year ago. Now both Nvidia and TII teams will participate in the project, and new researchers will also be hired.
