New Roundhay Music Festival in Leeds

Leeds City Council has announced a brand new music festival to be held next summer in Roundhay Park, one of the city’s largest green spaces. The Roundhay Festival will contribute to the national and international promotion of Leeds and bring significant economic vitality to the city.

Roundhay Park, one of Europe’s largest city parks with approximately 700 acres of space, has previously hosted legendary names such as Madonna, The Rolling Stones, and Michael Jackson.

The last major concert was Ed Sheeran’s performance for 80,000 people in 2019.

The festival will be held in collaboration with AEG Presents. AEG, which also organizes the BST Hyde Park and All Points East festivals in London, will bring some of the world’s most famous artists to Leeds. The first headliner artist will be announced next week.

The event will not be limited to concerts; Free weekday activities, stage opportunities for local talent, and educational programs to give Roundhay School students experience in the live music industry will also be part of the festival.

Furthermore, the festival is expected to collaborate with local suppliers, increase employment in the region, and provide an economic boost to the hospitality and food and beverage sectors.

Mayor James Lewis said, “Roundhay Park will once again host the world’s biggest music stars. The festival will put Leeds on the international stage while providing a strong boost to the city’s economy.”
