Hyundai Motor America has launched a large-scale recall program covering 143,472 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models. According to a statement from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), faulty installation of rear-view camera systems was detected in these vehicles.
According to the NHTSA, if the rear-view camera is not installed correctly, the driver may not receive a clear image during maneuvering. This creates a safety issue that could increase the risk of accidents and injuries, especially when parking or reversing in tight spaces.
Hyundai stated that it will contact affected vehicle owners and offer free repair services.
As part of the process to be carried out at authorized service centers, camera connections will be checked and, if necessary, reassembled appropriately. The company stated that there is no record of the problem causing any accidents to date. This recall highlights the importance of checks for increasing electronic safety equipment issues in the automotive sector, and drivers are advised to ensure that their rear-view systems are functioning properly. Hyundai officials emphasized that vehicle owners should follow up on their notification letters and schedule a service appointment as soon as possible.
