The EU has launched an antitrust investigation into Red Bull, alleging it is obstructing competitors.

European Union competition authorities have launched a new antitrust investigation into energy drink giant Red Bull. The statement released on Thursday indicated that the company may have hindered competition, particularly by limiting the sale of energy drinks from its closest competitor. The European Commission announced that there are indications that Red Bull may have developed a strategy to restrict competition across Europe for energy drinks larger than 250 ml, in a market where its classic 250 ml product dominates. The investigation was launched following dawn raids on the company’s offices in 2023 and allegations of anti-competitive practices by its US competitor Monster Energy against Red Bull. The Commission stated that, in light of the findings, the investigation is ongoing. He stated that the investigation would be deepened and whether competition rules were violated would be examined.
