Elon Musk Limits SpaceX AI Lease to Anthropic to 6 Months

The billionaire stated that SpaceX might extend the arrangement for several years.

Earlier filings revealed Anthropic agreed to pay $1.25 billion monthly for the Colossus clusters until 2029.

However, the current 180-day lease agreement allows either company to cancel with a 90-day notice.

Musk emphasized that SpaceX specifically requested the short-term framework to protect its own future compute needs.

He promised a reasonable off-ramp for Anthropic if SpaceX eventually requires the super tight compute capacity back.

Meanwhile, SpaceX is negotiating with other firms to offer AI compute as a service at scale.

The company’s recent IPO regulatory filing disclosed an AI segment operational loss of $2.5 billion.

That same division generated $818 million in revenue during the March quarter.
