Frigol Targets 60% Beef Output Surge With New Brazil Slaughterhouse Deals

Brazilian beef processor Frigol plans a 60% increase in production by 2026 through new slaughterhouse partnerships in northern Brazil.

Chief executive Luciano Pascon said agreements with DistriBoi and RioBeef will expand capacity in Rondônia.

The deals cover three processing plants and are expected to raise Frigol’s annual slaughter from about 650,000 cattle in 2025 to over one million in 2026.

Under the arrangement, Frigol will manage cattle procurement and product sales, while partner companies handle slaughtering and processing at their facilities.

The strategy aims to protect exports to China, the largest buyer of Brazilian beef despite stricter import quotas introduced in 2026.

China represents nearly half of Brazil’s beef exports and imposes an additional 55% tariff on shipments exceeding a quota slightly above one million metric tons.

With the two plants approved for Chinese exports, Frigol is expected to become the fourth-largest supplier to the Chinese market.

The company is financing expansion with a 250-million-real agribusiness receivables certificate, targeting revenue near 7 billion reais in 2026, up from 4.3 billion in 2025.
