Jess Glynne’s song “Hold My Hand” was named TikTok’s Song of the Year in the UK.

Jess Glynne’s 2015 hit “Hold My Hand” has been named TikTok’s UK Song of the Year thanks to the viral “nothing beats a Jet2holiday” trend, which originated from Jet2 holiday commercials. The old hit has been featured in approximately 6.6 million videos on the platform, showcasing users’ holiday mishaps, travel mishaps, and funny moments.

Glynne told the BBC that this success was “amazing” for her. Describing the song’s resurgence after 10 years as “crazy,” she said the trend gave the track “a new lease on life.” She added that the song still brings her great happiness and that she enjoys singing it on stage. The artist recounted that she had to listen to her own song over the speakers of a Jet2 plane while flying to Corfu on a holiday, and that the moment was quite funny. She said that on TikTok she mostly watches food videos, cat content, and falling moments; however, her favorite Jet2 videos are the ones where children say the famous phrase “nothing beats a Jet2 holiday.”

Videos using the “Hold My Hand” sound have garnered over 80 billion views on TikTok, and the song reached number two on the platform’s 2025 global chart. Among the classic songs that TikTok repopularized this year were Rihanna’s Breakin’ Dishes (2007), Radiohead’s Let Down (1997), and Black Eyed Peas’ Rock That Body (2010). However, TikTok’s 2025 global song of the year title went to Connie Francis’s “Pretty Little Baby” from 1962. The song has been used in over 28 million videos, becoming a favorite soundtrack for feel-good content about pets, family, and relationships.
