Honda Motor announced it will gradually resume normal production at its North American assembly plants starting Monday, as chip supply problems stemming from the Nexperia begin to ease.
Japan’s second-largest automaker halted production at its Mexican plant on October 28 due to chip shortages, and implemented production adjustments at its US and Canadian plants starting October 27.
A Honda spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday that the company had secured a certain supply of chips, including alternative component supplies.
Honda declined to answer the question of whether Nexperia shipments to Honda had resumed, requesting that the relevant questions be directed to the supplier. The company emphasized that the full-capacity return planned for next week was still subject to change depending on the situation, and that the process was proceeding in a “fluid” manner.
