According to a statement released Thursday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Toyota is recalling a total of 126,691 Tundra and Lexus models in the country due to a risk of engine stalling. Inspections revealed that manufacturing residue from the production process could accumulate inside the engine in some vehicles, leading to unexpected engine failure.
Authorities stated that this situation poses a serious risk to driving safety and that Toyota is continuing its work to develop a solution.
The NHTSA (National Health and Safety Agency) announced that the technical solution to be implemented is still under development and will be applied to vehicle owners free of charge when it is ready. Toyota’s recall decision is considered to be part of the increased safety and quality control measures the brand has implemented in recent years, and the company is expected to provide customers with regular information about the process. This step aims to protect both consumer safety and brand reputation.
