According to Workers United, union delegates representing Starbucks employees rejected the company’s latest contract offer. The offer included guaranteed annual salary increases of at least 2%. In a vote among 490 baristas representing more than 550 unionized stores across the U.S., 81% voted against it.
According to the union, the offer did not include improvements in other economic benefits such as healthcare, nor did it offer an immediate salary increase.
Therefore, they found the offer insufficient to finalize a contract agreement. The company currently pays its baristas an average of $19 per hour, and with benefits added, this amount reaches approximately $30 per hour.
