The holiday break has been extended to 9 days! Great news for millions!

Speaking at the Iftar Program with Workers held at the Beştepe National Exhibition Hall, President Erdoğan announced that public employees will have a 9-day holiday.

President Erdoğan made important statements at the Iftar program with workers.

I send my greetings and love to my valuable worker brothers and sisters in every corner of our 81 provinces, I congratulate you on the holy month of Ramadan, and I wish that our Laylat al-Qadr will bring blessings.

We have made intense efforts to increase the welfare levels of our workers, civil servants, and unions. We have implemented reforms in many areas, from occupational health and safety to social security.

We declared May 1st as a public holiday, Labor and Solidarity Day. We revised and improved the laws on trade unions and collective bargaining agreements. We strengthened the right to strike. We improved the working and personal rights of our civil servants. We made the necessary arrangements to prevent our employees from being crushed by inflation. We exempted the minimum wage, which was increased by 30 percent compared to the previous year, from income tax. We granted our pensioners new rights such as bonuses and bank promotions. We took an important step by giving permanent positions to subcontracted businesses and contracted personnel in public institutions. We will not give any advantage to some politicians who play with the livelihoods of traders with irresponsible boycott calls. We will not let these people devour any company that works for Turkey, produces for 85 million people, and contributes to the economy. Those who openly threaten companies and media organizations, and complain about Türkiye abroad, will lose.

Such an understanding absolutely has no place in our culture and our lives. May God not let us fall into the hands of such people.

I want to share some good news. All our schools are entering their second mid-term break. The Monday and Tuesday of the mid-term break coincide with the 2nd and 3rd days of Eid al-Fitr. We want our families to spend enjoyable time with their children and to celebrate the holiday peacefully with their families. In this regard, we have included the 3 days following the holiday as administrative leave for our public employees. Thus, we have extended the holiday period to 9 days.
