The Borsa Istanbul 100 (BIST 100) index opened the day down 0.5% at 9,758 points. At the opening, the banking index fell by 0.92%, and the holding index by 0.54%.
The IT sector was the biggest gainer with 0.28%, while the metal main industry sector was the biggest loser with 0.96%.
As the market decline exceeded 5%, the BIST 100 index fell to 9,318 points, triggering the circuit breaker system.
Trading was temporarily halted at 10:52 AM.
When trading resumed at 11:22 AM, the Istanbul Stock Exchange applied a circuit breaker for the second time as losses exceeded 7%.
