Meta offers ad-free Facebook and Instagram subscriptions in the UK.

Meta Platforms has announced it will launch an ad-free subscription option for Facebook and Instagram in the UK in the coming weeks. Users will now be able to enjoy an ad-free experience by paying a monthly fee or continue with ads on the free version.

The subscription fee will be £2.99 per month via the web and £3.99 per month on iOS and Android. This model is a continuation of similar practices offered by Meta to comply with data privacy rules in the EU.

The company stated that the ad-free plan offers users more control over their online experience and that paid members’ data will not be used for advertising purposes.

98% of Meta’s revenue comes from advertising.

Therefore, balancing privacy laws with advertising sales is central to the company’s growth strategy. A similar transformation is taking place across technology giants: Apple and Google have also changed their advertising models in line with data privacy demands.
